Drought Won't Stop the Cruise Ships: San Juan Gears Up for a Record High Season With 541 Calls and 1.4 Million Visitors
While thousands of metro-area families haul buckets of water under rationing, the story at the Old San Juan piers is a different one: not a single cruise cancellation over the water crisis, and a high season starting in October with record projections of 541 port calls and 1.4 million passengers and crew through April 2027 1. San Juan Cruise Port (SJCP) general manager Clarivette Díaz confirmed this Tuesday, August 25, that "to date, we have not received a single cancellation of visits" due to the operational adjustments by the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) 1.
