CSL Plasma opens two centers in Bayamón and Caguas: donors get $40 to $60 per donation
CoquiList · With information from El Vocero

CSL Plasma Puerto Rico this week opened two new plasma collection centers at El Cantón Mall in Bayamón and Plaza Centro Mall in Caguas, an expansion that brings its island footprint to six locations and opens an additional income stream for thousands of metro-area residents: the company provides a reimbursement of $40 to $60 per donation, loaded onto a prepaid card right after you donate 12. The openings, announced Wednesday, August 27, 2026, are part of an investment that now exceeds $30 million in the planning, construction and operation of the company's centers in Puerto Rico 23.
The CSL Behring subsidiary arrived on the island less than three years ago and has grown fast. Its first center opened in Ponce in December 2023, followed by Loíza in February 2024, Toa Baja in April 2024 and San Juan in February 2025 23. Over that period, the local operation has created close to 200 jobs, with staff that includes nurses, reception technicians, donor care technicians, plasma processing technicians, and administrative and quality-control personnel 2. Parent company CSL Limited, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, runs more than 330 collection centers across the United States and Europe and employs more than 29,000 people worldwide 3.
The expansion's numbers are concrete: each new center will have between 48 and 54 donation beds, designed to keep the process moving without long waits 23. The collected plasma — the yellowish liquid portion of blood — is used in hospitals for burns, trauma, cardiac surgery and transplants, and as the raw material for therapies against primary immunodeficiencies, hereditary angioedema, hemophilia and other serious disorders distributed in more than 100 countries, including Puerto Rico 2.
"These openings reflect the generosity of Puerto Rico's communities and the dedication of the employees who serve our donors every day," said Steve Marlow, executive vice president and general manager of CSL Plasma, in announcing the openings 23.
What it means for you
At a moment when Puerto Rican wallets are stretched thin, this is real, recurring money. CSL Plasma Puerto Rico's official site states that each donation is reimbursed with $40 to $60, and that new donors can receive additional promotional amounts during their first month 1. The payment doesn't come by check or deposit: you receive a prepaid card with your reimbursement immediately after donating 12.
If you live in Bayamón, Caguas or nearby towns like Toa Alta, Naranjito, Gurabo, Aguas Buenas or Cayey, you no longer have to cross over to San Juan, Toa Baja or Loíza to donate: the new locations are inside El Cantón Mall (Bayamón) and Plaza Centro Mall (Caguas), with parking and mall hours 23. And if what you're looking for is work, each new center needs nurses and technicians, so it's worth watching the company's jobs section 12.
How to do it / Checklist
- Verify you meet the requirements: be between 18 and 64 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, have no tattoos or piercings done in the last four months, not have HIV or viral hepatitis, and have a permanent address 1.
- Gather your documents before the first visit: valid government-issued ID, proof of Social Security, and proof of current residence or lease 1.
- Complete the pre-donation questionnaire online at cslplasma.pr to save time at the center 1.
- Pick your center: El Cantón Mall in Bayamón, Plaza Centro Mall in Caguas, or the existing locations in San Juan, Toa Baja, Loíza and Ponce 23.
- Pass the initial physical screening: staff will confirm your eligibility and take your medical history 1.
- Donate and get paid: after finishing your first donation you receive the prepaid card with your reimbursement; the amount can increase the more you donate 1.
- If you're interested in a nursing or technician position, check the "Empleos" section of the official site 1.
What's next
CSL Plasma describes these openings as part of an expansion that "continues" in Puerto Rico, so more centers outside the metro area can't be ruled out 23. In the short term, what's coming is recruitment: the two new locations should add clinical and technical staff to the roughly 200 jobs already created since 2023 2. For donors, the key will be comparing first-month promotional amounts, which the company itself warns can change without notice 1. CoquiList will be watching for the new centers' official hours and phone numbers once they appear in the company's center locator.
